THE PITCH A DREAM ORGANISATION
Many people are involved in charity and it is amazing. It is a beautiful thing to see that young people are giving their time and energy to ensure that their fellow country-folk are having a better life. Many of us youths are unemployed and struggling- hustling- to go through each day. So to find that there are as many young Kenyans involving themselves in charitable activities is indeed a touching- very humbling actually- gesture. (Shout out to all involved in such; May God continue to open doors and richly bless you.)
Pitch A Dream however, touches my heart (and many other peoples hearts as I have come to learn) in ways that are unimaginable. I love creativity and I value honesty. People start charities for different reasons. Most start them in the hope that through the funding they receive, they will also get a hefty allowance. Not so with Pitch A Dream.
These 7 youths (read about them here) came together with one vision- to re create the dreams of young minds- and what better way than to give children books? Books create a different reality for humans in which we can become whoever we want to be. It is because of fairy tales that we believed in love- if only we could read them now with as much belief, the world would be much happier ;-D
They did not stop there- they came up with ways to make sure that the dreams that are re created in these children, are nurtured. They don't just go to schools, drop books and take pictures... they take time to mentor the children, to eat with them whatever they have, to sing songs and make music, to act and write skits and poetry, to draw and bead... the list is endless and the change seen in these children over time is amazing.
THE FUN 4 CHARITY PROJECT
When the idea of #Fun4Charity came up, as their partners we felt that we and indeed all able Kenyans, have a role to play in ensuring that #PitchADream has all it needs. It feels bad when they cannot do what they are meant to do because they don't have enough books to give to a class in a rural school somewhere yet if you and I could donate only 2 books, they would have what they need. They travel to schools in rural Kenya where there are no libraries in the schools and at the end of the #PitchADream Program, these children are telling a different story- literally!
#Fun4Charity is a project they came up with, to get you to enjoy yourself, whilst Pitching dreams in the hearts and minds of children. It could be through games, a concert, hiking... whatever fun event they come up with, and all you need to do is buy a ticket and books:-) I told you they are extremely creative!!!
This March 29th 2014, they will be having the #PitchADream #Fun4Charity #FootballTournament for just 200 bob and 2 books!!! The event will be held at Bethsaida Park Kikuyu ( SEE MAP HERE) from 11 am. There will be lots of music, food & drinks for sale on site and above all, #Fun4Charity!! Now now now, I know some of you do not like football... don't get turned off. There will be lots of other games too... Kati, 3sticks, Bladder, Tag of war...basically any game you played as a child, will be played there.
From what I have said before, I really believe in this cause. SIRI is a team of psychologists and we know that there is no better way to propel children into success than to paint pictures of beautiful dreams in their hearts and fill their minds with positivism.
If you believe in this cause too... if you have a heart yaani.. get yourself a ticket via 0723 716 414 / 0720 209 360. It is only 200 shillings + 2 books, 400 shillings without books or 1000 shillings with a t shirt (check them out in the images).
#Fun4Charity: A cause we believe in.
